Being nominated for Childminder of the Year was a complete surprise to me. I didn’t know I had been nominated until I had been selected as a finalist so it was a real shock to the system. I found out that I was nominated by families of the children I care for, alongside some childminding colleagues which was a lovely surprise.
I was unable to attend the award ceremony, however I kept myself up to date on the night through social media and it was unbelievable to see my name pop up on the nursery world awards twitter feed!
Since then I have had the opportunity to write a few articles for some early years publications about my setting and ethos which has been a privilege. I thrive professionally when I am helping other early years professionals improve their own practice and raising the profile of the childminding sector is a real passion.
However I didn’t have long to bask in the glory of the award, as Ofsted soon called ready for my inspection, which I will write more about in future.
A big thank you to all of the families and colleagues for my nomination, and to Nursery World for awarding me Childminder of the Year 2023.
